What is the process of liquid silicone molding?
Aug 26,2023 | Company News

The process of liquid silicone molding, also known as silicone injection molding or liquid silicone rubber (LSR) molding, typically involves the following steps:

  1. Mold preparation: Create a silicone mold based on the design requirements of the desired product. The mold can be a single-cavity mold (for producing a single product) or a multi-cavity mold (for producing multiple products simultaneously).

  2. Silicone preparation: Select the appropriate liquid silicone material and mix it according to the product requirements. Liquid silicone is typically composed of a silicone base material and a catalyst. It is important to ensure thorough mixing before use.

  3. Silicone injection: Inject the mixed liquid silicone into the mold. An injection machine controls the injection speed and pressure of the silicone according to preset parameters, ensuring that the silicone fills every detail of the mold.

  4. Silicone curing: After the silicone is injected, the mold is placed in a curing chamber or subjected to other curing methods to solidify the silicone. The curing time can be adjusted based on the type of silicone and product requirements.

  5. Mold separation: Once the silicone is fully cured, separate the mold and remove the silicone product from it. This may require careful separation using tools.

  6. Post-processing: Clean and adjust the silicone product to ensure its quality and appearance. Additional processes such as trimming, grinding, and coating may be performed.

These are the general steps involved in the liquid silicone molding process. However, specific steps may vary depending on the product design and production equipment.
