O-ring is a solid rubber seal, annualr seal that is used primarily to block the passage of gases or liquids when squeezed between the two mating surfaces. O-rings are one of the most widely used seal designs in the world. There are countless o-ring size types due to the way they are used, like Metric O-rings, Large diameter O-rings, As-568 O-ring.
Despite the wide range of O-ring seal sizes, each o-ring has the same two structural designs: inner diameter(ID) and Cross Section(CS). To achieve adequate sealing, the cross sectional characteristics are approximately 18-20% to maintain fluids and contaminants.
The wide range ID dimensions of O-rings were developed around standard inch fractional sizes. The size adjustment system is called the AS-568 size standard. There are also standard metric and janpanese size systems. This applies to standard industrial hardware shaft and hole sizes.
Another factor in the O-ring is the cross-sectional dimensions(CS). The cross-sectional design of the o-ring depends on the size of the gland. To ensure proper extrusion for proper sealing, the cross-sectional dimension of the O-ring needs to be greater than the height of the gland.
"Diameter gao" is the gap between two mating hardware surfaces, also known as the squeezing gap.
The extrusion of o-rings mainly concentrated on the extrusion gap and the seal. Depending on whether the application enviroment is static or dynamic. there are differences in the dimensional design
of the o-ring seal cross section. If applied dymanically, a smaller cross section O-ring is required.
